GYIN GAMBIA CHAPTER HELD SECOND MENTORSHIP COHORT GRADUATION



On 16 March 2019, The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter held a graduation of 50 young Gambians on Enterprise Management, at a colourful graduation ceremony held at the Jenoi Agricultural Rural Farmers’ Training Centre, Lower River Region (LRR).

GYIN Gambia has since its inception as a national youth network specialises on youth led rural developments programs and activities.

The six months Youth Mentorship Programme was bankrolled by the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP).

The programme has been designed to provide support for the mentees on Understanding Business Ecosystem, Banking and Finance, Applying Grants and Loans, as well as Records Keeping.
The Graduation Ceremony brought together dignitaries from various ministries and partners, including YEP, Nema Project, Gambia Youth Chamber of Commerce (GYCC), GYIN Gambia Regional Coordinators, GYINers, youth organisations, as well as the community of Jenoi and Jarra Soma.

GYIN GAMBIA TO GRADUATE 50 YOUTHS ON ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT MENTORSHIP


The Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia chapter- www.gyingambia.gm   will on Saturday, 16th March, 2019 hold a graduation ceremony for 50 (fifty) young people who undergone its six months Youth Mentorship Programme on Enterprise Management.

The graduation ceremony, which will be held at the Agricultural Rural Farmers’ Training Center in Jenoi, Lower River Region (LRR), is the second batch of GYIN Gambia’s coaching and mentoring programme.

Funded solely by the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP)- www.yep.gm, the Youth Mentorship Programme on Enterprise Management has been designed to provide support for the mentees on Understanding business ecosystem, Banking and finance, Applying grants and loans as well as Records keeping.

NACCUG Trains 35 Mini Grant Shortlisted Applicants on Financial Literacy

The National Association of Cooperative Credit Union of the Gambia (NACCUG), last Saturday, 1st December, 2018, convened a Financial Literacy training programme for 35 shortlisted applicants of Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) mini grant scheme.

 Held at its head office in Bakau, the training was meant to build the participants’ capacities on Savings, Management and Basic Records Keeping for SMEs.

The YEP mini grant scheme application process and funds disbursement is under the purview of NACCUG.

Delivering the opening remarks on the occasion, the mini grant Officer, Saikou Touray dilated on the purpose of the gathering, stating that is a rare opportunity for the participants to be part of the training.

He also tasked them to make good use of training.
Also speaking, the NACCUG Financial and Admin Manager, Mr Patrick Mendy welcome all the participants to the training and advise them to make best use of the opportunity accorded them.

NACCUG disburses over D1.5M mini grant fund to support youths


The Mini Grants Scheme Officer of the Association National of Cooperative Credit Union of the Gambia (NACCUG), Mr Saikou Touray has said his office has disbursed about one million, five hundred and twenty-two thousand, seven hundred and eighty-one dalasi, eighty bututs (D1, 522, 781. 80) to support the beneficiaries in the country. 

The purpose of the mini grant fund is to enhance employability of youths in the Gambia, create more youth friendly enterprises thus curbing the menace of irregular migration while encouraging youth take leadership roles in the credit union movement.

Since the inception of the Scheme, Mr. Touray said, NACCUG has been entrusted with its management by the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) to support young Gambians in creating prospective enterprises as well as up-scaling the micro medium, and small scale existing businesses. As at end of April 30th 2018, 32 young Gambians out of the 234 applications received nationwide has been awarded grants either to start a new business or improve their existing business.
