The network is the legitimate national representation and chapter of the Global Youth Innovation Network International with headquarter in Washington, DC in United State of America.
The Banjul forum, is been Organised by IFAD in collaboration with the Gambian government. Held at the Kairaba Beach Hotel outskirts of Banjul.
The annual regional forum is an important knowledge-sharing event, which enables IFAD-funded projects, and development partners from the region to meet, network and share experiences and review performance with the objective of improving the lives of the rural poor.
It is also an important portfolio management process, and performance of projects and grants in term of relevance, effectiveness, and efficiency.
The theme of the IFAD-sponsored forum is " Result-based Management for Sustaining Rural Poverty Reduction- Lessons learned and Challenges."
More than 250 participants are attending including representatives from IFAD-funded projects, local stakeholders,regional governments, development agencies, GYIN Gambia chapter and farmer organizations
The National Steering committee of our current study on " Youth Employment" for the 2011 National Human Development Report includes member of GYIN Gambia Chapter as observer through IFAD's recommendation , said Mr. Abdou Touray UNDP Banjul office, Programme Specialists at the official opening.
IFAD director for West and Central Africa, Mr. Ides de Willebois, said IFAD's Programme of work in West and Central Africa supports production and productivity based agricultural-led poverty reduction.
He stated that IFAD operations in West and Central Africa, contributes positively to sustainable rural livelihoods across the region.
Gambian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Owens noted that the objectives and expected outcomes of the forum will lead to concrete conclusions and actions for enhancing the pro-poor impact of development interventions not only in The Gambia but in all the countries within the two subregions.
