EIGHTY-ONE MEMBERS TO VOTE FOR THE GPU TRIENNIAL CONGRESS

The triennial congress of The Gambia Press Union (GPU) is slated for 24-26 June 2011, at The Gambia Telecommunications and Multimedia Institute (GTMI). There will a capacity-building training on 24-25 June. Voting will take place on Sunday, June 26 2011. Only paid-up members are eligible to vote and be voted for at the congress, according to a media release signed by Mr. Emil Touray, secretary general GPU.

 The voters’ list is already published at the GPU Secretariat, 5 Garba Jahumpa Road, Bakau Newtown. According to the release, eight-one (81) members are qualified to vote during the congress.

The number goes like these, Foroyaa Newspaper which top the list has 28 registered members, followed by the Point 13, Daily Observer 12, Daily News and News and Report Weekly Magazine 4 respectively.
Freelance journa;ists 3, The Voice Newspaper, African Press Agency (APA) and Gambia Info 2 resectively, while others 1 qualified member- The Sandard, Market Place, Media Agenda, GRTS Radio, GPU,  Freelance Photo Journalist, FAMEDAW, Jollof News, Meadia Consultant, Agricultural Voice, and West African Journalist Association (WAJA).
The releaseadvised to check up their status on or before 6pm on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
