Mr. Aloysius
Tulinabo Consultant Concern Universal-Gambia (CU-Gambia) ascertain that for
someone to have his or her own enterprise rewards more, by justifying his
words, he said that entrepreneurship offers a greater possibility of achieving
significant financial rewards than working for someone.
Making a
PowerPoint presentation at a four days training (2nd to 5th
Dec.) on Entrepreneurship for MDFT members at the Agricultural Rural Training
Centre at Jenoi in the Lower River Region
He defines
entrepreneurship as someone who engages in the creation of new business with
the aim of achieving “success, growth and profit”.
“After this
training some of them will begin to start small enterprises that can supplement
your earning salary- which most of you think that your salary is low; with the
materials of this, you now be able to pay yourself if you have your own
enterprise,” he told a conference of 60 participants, organised by the Nema Project-International Fund for Agricultural
Development (IFAD) funded project in The Gambia.
The
National Agriculture Land and Water Management Development Project (Nema) aims to transform the Gambian
agricultural sector from simply subsistence farming to an increasingly
efficient market system.
He lectured
entrepreneurship is the process of creating something new with value by devoting
the necessary time and effort, assuming the accompanying financial, psychic and
social risks, and receiving rewards of monetary and personal satisfaction and
independence.

Mr.
Tulinabo pointed out that entrepreneurship is the art of operating/
implementing a business idea adding that the common characteristic of an
entrepreneur are good communication, risk bearing, flexible, fat decision
making, adventurous, innovative, research oriented, passionate and hard
working, self-motivation and discipline.
The pros of
been an entrepreneur, it provides the ability to be involved in the total
operation of the business, from concept to design and creation, from sales to
business operations and customer response adding that it offers the prestige of
been the person in charge of the business as well as overcoming unemployment
and underemployment.
Citing an
important point of the con successful business owners have
all failed at some time in their life. Failing is something good for an
entrepreneur, as long as they learn from the experience.
