The National Association of Cooperative Credit Union of
the Gambia (NACCUG), last Saturday, 1st December, 2018, convened a Financial
Literacy training programme for 35 shortlisted applicants of Youth Empowerment
Project (YEP) mini grant scheme.
Held at its head
office in Bakau, the training was meant to build the participants’ capacities
on Savings, Management and Basic Records Keeping for SMEs.
The YEP mini grant scheme application process and funds
disbursement is under the purview of NACCUG.
Delivering the opening remarks on the occasion, the mini
grant Officer, Saikou Touray dilated on the purpose of the gathering, stating that
is a rare opportunity for the participants to be part of the training.
He also tasked them to make good use of training.
Also speaking, the NACCUG Financial and Admin Manager, Mr
Patrick Mendy welcome all the participants to the training and advise them to
make best use of the opportunity accorded them.
He said the grant is a household name in the Gambia due
to its game changing significant and impact on the society. He further added
that the success of the grant entirely depends on the beneficiaries, noting
that its continuity for future implementation stages depend on the successes
registered in this training. He finally thanked all the beneficiaries for
taking time to be part of the gathering.
The representative of ICT/YEP, Mayava challenged the
beneficiaries to be committed to their business as well as tactiful in
their quest as entrepreneurs.
She finally congratulated all the shortlisted applicants
for the interest and success in their applications.
The opening ceremony was followed by presentations on Savings,
Management and Basic Record Keeping for SMES. These Presentations were facilitated
by the Grant Officer, Saikou Touray and Gabriel Mendy of GIEPA.
